Trouble replacing Insteon Serial Modem

My Powerlink modem died a couple of days ago ( 2 months old :( ) - no light at all when it's plugged in and log files full of:
Received NAK or Length Wrong No Response from Insteon Modem!

I ordered a new modem. I plugged it in, connected it to the hydroflash, and got a green light.

The problem is that the hydroflash unit doesn't seem to see the new device. I tried synching the modem with a couple of switches and it synched and beeped just as I expected. I can't control the devices and the log is still full of:
Received NAK or Length Wrong No Response from Insteon Modem!

I tried rebooting and installing the latest firmware, but I am still down and out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

With the new modem connected, following a reboot, you should see something like this in the log file.

Your ID and version will differ from the above, however this log input should show that a Serial modem is connected. At boot up time we do a standard query to determine if a modem is attached and reflect it in the log, it is only used to log the fact that a modem is attached, nothing else. In other words the behavior of HydroFLASH related to controlling Insteon devices is not dependent on detecting the modem at start up, just to be clear. Try re-booting a couple of times and examine the log file looking for the above entry. If you see it then HydroFLASH is successfully communicating with the Modem, otherwise you may have a problem with the Modem, the Cable or the HydroFLASH serial port.

We had one other customer that had a Serial Modem fail and when it failed it did so in a way that took out the serial chip on HydroFLASH. The only conclusion is that it was related to power surge on the AC connected to the modem and somehow made it's way to the Serial interface on HydroFLASH.

I am in exactly same problem. My Insteon Modem 2413S went dead in 7 months and I replaced it and not HydroFlash does not detect it. I will perform same test before calling support.

The logging of the modem was removed inadvertently in a past version but will be added back in in a future update.

I am was out of country. I am still facing issue on seeing Insteon connection line in Log file. also, my insteon is not now working. I see green light on modem and replaced it as well, but still not working.

Here is cut/paste of Log. I upgraded to 3.0.0.9. I don't see insteon model detection. As I wrote, I replaced with new model. It was working but now it stopped please advise.

That is the reason that you are not seeing the message in the start up logging. (as posted back a few days)

I think I understand that you replaced the modem with a new modem? If so then did you re-link your devices to the modem?

Try turning on Insteon Logging from the System Settings page and see if you are getting any errors in the log. Even if your modem is not linked with the devices it should be able to poll the status of the device, though you may not be able to control the device.

After turning on the logging for a few minutes, examine the log file and advise what messages are showing up related to Insteon communications. If there are no errors then repeat the test and try to turn on or off one of the devices and re-examine the log file and advise.
